ascii donut. again.

helo patcherpeople,

nothing fancy this time. basically exactly the same as before only that scratch better. Ah one fancy thing there is actually: the new helppatches for Renderer (EX9) and DX9Texture (EX9.Texture) plus some new girlpower\Graphics\DX9\Texture patches. Check em out. Gorgeous.

If you're new to beta 32x you should also be advised to skim the previous release notes: vvvv45beta32 not to miss anything.

And note that you still have the privileged opportunity to be among the first 10 people in the universe ever to flattr vvvv. Think ahead, this may later be a crucial point in your résumé..

ladies and bois,

this is to announce yet another grande release of your favorite multipurpose toolkit that is vvvv. again we started out with a primary focus on bugfixing but along the way came up with some ideas..

so most importantly bug/fixwise:

and featurewise:

also this release sees a fat drop of next generation girlpowers. please check your

 \girlpower\The Next Generation

to find an unprecedented collection of finely documented demos and overviews covering IO topics like: Arduino, Databases, DMX, Midi, Networking, TUIO and the Web.

so they say vvvv is hard to learn? depends. they say vvvv lacks documentation? wrong. vvvvs documentation taskforce in the manifestation of robotanton is unstoppable. much more to come... learning/teaching resources for vvvv are getting ready to play with the grownups. tweet that already!

and while we have you reading..please take a second to update your personal settings with infos you'd like to share and then see the new connections page for some convenient listings.

that is it for now. more changes to arrive in the alpha builds soon..

helohelo,

this is just a little one, mainly a maintainance release fixing problems. Probably most notable the initialisation problems with the Oculus Rift should be gone and patching in x64 builds does not stop at around 2gb..

Still we're spending it a major version number since with this release we're also introducing the long awaited copyprotection option for vvvv, see protektor-dongle-protection-for-your-vvvv-projects.

Also there are new patches in:

 \girlpower\The Next Generation\Networking

in our ongoing effort to get more quality documentation on different topics out.

Ah, and the Leap (Devices) now does gestures!

next generation girlpower

heloo ladies,

this is to announce the 45beta30.2 maintainance release. mostly fixes, nothing really new except starting with this release we're introducing:

girlpower\The Next Generation

so about 10 years late we're starting a documentation offensive. in the style of the parasitic-design-a-vvvv-beginners-cookbook we're working through the topics and create easily digestible and documented examples for your learning pleasure. we're lucky to have robotanton on board for doing all the detailed patchwork.

we've started with providing an overview of vvvvs audio capabilities which are quite sparse, agreed, but finally you have a chance to see at a glance whats there and how it works. among other things there are patches that demonstrate the four ways to playback audiofiles with vvvv:

you'll also get an overview of the audio-analysis and -effects possibilities with the different soundengines.

at the same time we're updating the wiki topic by topic, so just recently we've also updated all the pages in the Audio section. if anyone is into translating pages to other languages, this would be a perfect time to do so.

have a great summer and may the patch be with you..
yours,
devs.

EDIT: just in case you're wondering: yes, the dx11 build for beta30 is compatible with beta30.2

this is vvvv45beta30
what a release...

the changelog has it all really, but here are some highlights:

at the latest with vuxens drop of his dx11 implementation it became obvious that one addonpack won't suffice all. while this comes with some additional clicks for the typical user it is more convenient to handle by developers and is a first step towards a kind of package managing system. so beta30 introduces the idea of packs. packs are placed inside the

 \packs

directory in the \vvvv_45betaXY directory like for example

 \vvvv_45betaXY\packs\DX11

and thats it. no further configuration necessary. like this packs can be maintained by the developer and added/updated/removed by the user individually. note that at this point we're still waiting for a suitable DX11 pack for beta30 by vux.

next. with the dx11 pack comes a load of new nodes. while all dx11 nodes work alongside their dx9 peers peacefully you may want to hide either category from the nodebrowser depending on what you're working on. in its new filter panel the nodebrowser allows you to do exactly that.

(T)ags, (C)ategories, (F)ilter (obviously)

besides that a lot of fixes and your favorite new features:

  • ctrl+^ to jump to the active patchs parent (and even get its node selected).
  • ctrl+middleclick after you started a link: to create a suitable S/R node.

happy new vvvv.
yours,
devvvvs.

this is to announce the availability of beta29.2, a maintainance release fixing mostly the most urgent troubles with beta29 that was release a bit over a month ago. just in time for node13.

most notably problems with the midinodes should be fixed and also the problem with opening Kommunikator causing beta29 to crash is gone.

also some minor adaptions for the integration of the dx11 stuff by vux have been finished so we can all enjoy a special preview-build that vux will provide for the workshops.

looking forward to seeing you all in frankfurt the coming week.
yours,
devvvvs.

exactly 10 years ago today vvvv33beta1 descended to earth. and it brought great joy amongst us all. in order to celebrate this occasion we want to re-release it today: vvvv33beta1

and it took us 10 years to release roughly 40 versions (honestly we lost track a bit over the years. you have to understand that vvvv was started before version control was en vogue that is at times when some of you still believed in santaclaus!). for the sake of numerology lets say today sees the release of number 42. and we call it vvvv45beta29.

here is whats to expect from beta29:

and quite some more fixes as you'll see in the changelog.

  • also a behind-the-scenes rework of the boygrouping code was necessary. the only thing you should notice there is that things are potentially faster now.

note that the necessary changes for unicode and 64bit affected quite large portions of vvvvs codebase. we did our best to make sure everything works at least as good as before. you'll be the judge of that. and many thanks to our regular alpha-testers who found some nice buggers.

now with vuxens announcement of his full DirectX 11 implementation for vvvv and node13 just around the corner it already seems that 2013 will see a nice takeoff..

all the best to everyone and worldpeace.
your devvvs.

ps.: here is a promise (to ourselves): this is the last release on the 24th of a december. who came up with this date in the first place? cheesus!

heloagain,

this is a quick bugfix-only update to beta28. not too many problems it seems have arised with it so far. it mainly boils down to:

  • middleclick on pins now works better with modules
  • fixed filestream boygroup module bug
  • MouseState (Split) returns all pressed mouse buttons now
  • fixed an issue with collada-loader
  • fixed an issue with transform-pins on plugins in connection with a framedelay

some more important fixes come with the addonpack.

watch the devvvv blog for announcements and get daily alpha builds to test the latest and greatest.

features ahead!
yours, devvvvs.
