NOART and VSUP are suggesting a workshop about VVVV, a special programming toolkit using motion graphics, audio and video in real-time. It is based on visual programming in simple graphic user interface which allows a creative work of absolute beginners.

The main lecturer Andrej Boleslavský (CIANT) is a professional game designer and programmer. The workshop is originally designed for Interactive Media students. The main goal of the workshop is to provide a basic practical knowledge about VVVV toolkit and to create a simple real-time interactive work.

The general idea in this Workshop is to show different skills and tools to realize any kind of visual composition focused on sound and music, but also we will explore other ways to comunicate with VVVV.

1- Short introduction to VVVV.

• Basic math funtions, and useful programming nodes.
• What can we do with this tool?.
• What can not we do with it? (nothing important).
• Which kind of data can we manage (values, colors, strings, textures).
• Spreads, or flow of data.

2- Form, movement and color.

• Working in 2D and 3D.
• Animation technics.
• Transformations.
• Working with Spreads.
• Smothing the data.

3- Shaders.

• Exploring different 3D shader, looks, technics.
• 2D post effects, Texture effects.

4- External inputs / outputs.

• Working with different input data (audio, MIDI, video, OSC).

During the Workshops and depending on the programming knowledge of the participants, we can deep more or less on the several topics.

We´ll use VVVV beta 26.
Please bring your own Windows XP, vista or 7 computer, with the software installed.

Hi folks,

We've got Mike Wilson doing a talk and show techniques he's using for his amazing New Opera Hero Project

New Opera Hero amalgamate visual and sonic art into audiovisual anthems for the future - a band connecting live music, visuals and technology within stunning live performances.
N.O.H. was formed in 2007 by Steff Ungerer and Mike Wilson who have directed, composed, written and designed for theatre, opera, concerts, TV, computer games and art installations for more than ten years. As founders of burst tv London, their credits include work for the National Operas in London, Tokyo and Hamburg as well as shows for established acts like the Pet Shop Boys, Lady Gaga and Asian Dub Foundation.
They will be showing some footage from their shows and demoing how they use vvvv to sync multiple holographic projections, lighting using dmx and audio, with some realtime reactive elements.
