GRADIENT is an abstract concept of continuously changing value, of transition between different states that occur everywhere - when shade is changing to light or cube is morphing to sphere, on the boundary between pure nature and life modified with technology.
When observing gradients at a closer look, we can notice how their apparent continuity is quantized with rhythms and patterns, and more gradients appear on edges of these details.

The ‘320° Licht’ installation of URBANSCREEN uses the cathedral-like beauty of the Gasometer Oberhausen as the starting point for a fascinating game with shapes and light.
Within a radius of 320 degrees graphic patterns grow and change on the 100-metre high inside wall of the Gasometer.
The observer experiences the interplay between real and virtual space, in which the Gasometer seems to dissolve into its own, filigree structures and yet finally always reverts to its clear shape. ’320° Licht’ is achieved with kind project support from Epson Germany.
With approx. 20,000 square meters of area played upon, the installation is among the world’s largest and technically most sophisticated interior projections - interconnecting 21 powerful projectors to one projection screen.
Duration (loop): approx. 22 min.
'320° Licht' is part of the exhibition ‘The Appearance of Beauty’ - the variety of beauty in art that is shown inside the Gasometer. The Gasometer Oberhausen opens this exhibition from 11th April until 30th December.

Vision Nocturne presents Cubix, an interactive multitouch audiovisual installation, further developed during a two-week residency at iMAL and supported by Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.
Cubix consists in a cube of 27m3, shaped by a metalic structure and white translucide material. It generates abstract aesthetics from a simple cube, both sensorial and immersive. Cubix invites the public to enter the structure and discover its tactile, audio and visual dimension thanks to a multitouch table placed inside the cube and which allows visitors to make evolve projected animations on the cube.

Concept.
During an undefinied lapse of time, several events happen in the outside environment.
These phenomena are read and developed by the nervous system through a large number of synapse.
This complex mass of electrochemical signals is received and read in different ways by the two cerbral hemispheres. Sometimes the interpretation differences are slight, other times they are more drammatical. The more these perceptive contrasts accentuated, the more the personal contradictions increase.
The contradictions are the whole of the feelings that cause malaise and emotional unbalancing inside the human soul. The arising of these negative sensations generates the wish to come back to an utopic balanced asset that, given the human imperfection, will never be possible to achieve.
The performance is based on the musicians improvised action.
Like the neurons of a nervous system, they produce dynamic signals and send them variable toward a computer/brain.
The computer, programmed to simulate the two cerebral hemispheres, tries to build up an univocal and
specular representation of the perception but, because of its innate ambiguity, the image will never be balanced.
